I bought a telephone pickup microphone and it's proved to be one of the most interesting (and affordable) sound design tools I've ever used. I've been trying it on every electronic device I can find. So far, devices with moving parts create the most dynamic sounds. Everything else generally creates pleasant electronic hums and buzzes. All of these sounds are perfect for sampling or manipulating in sound design projects.
For this series of recordings, I've included sounds from CD Rom drives, computer fans, and smartphones. The collection is titled, "Bleeps & Bloops vol I". I'll release additional volumes as I discover new sounds.
